Occupational Therapy Staff |
Teri Allen, OTR , Clinical Director
Teri is a graduate of Western Michigan University, with a bachelors degree in
Occupational Therapy and is registered with the State of Michigan and the National
Occupational Therapy Registry. She established Children's Therapy Center in 1988
in an effort to provide high quality out patient therapy to children. She is certified to
administer and interpret the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT) and a
certified provider for Interactive Metronome and the Therapeutic Listening Program.
She has over 700 hours of continuing education in pediatric therapy & over 20
years of experience in pediatrics including developing a pediatric treatment program
in a small community hospital and a home health agency. Her other professional
experiences include: working on a rehabilitation unit at the University of Michigan
Medical Center, treatment of adults with neurological impairments in home health and
extended care facilities, and two years on the faculty at Western Michigan University.

Leah Simon, OTR
Leah joined the Children's Therapy Center staff in the summer of 2005. She
earned her B.S. in Occupational Therapy from Western Michigan University. She
did child care with special needs children for four years before starting her
Occupational Therapy career. She has volunteered in the following areas: the
Early On program, fitting children for Amtrykes, and carrying out home exercise
programs. Her internships included work with both children and adults in a variety
of settings including: an elementary school, a private clinic, and the Unified Clinic at
Western Michigan University. Leah is registered with the State of Michigan and the
National Occupational Therapy Registry.

Summer joined the Children's Therapy Center Staff in 2006. She is a graduate of
Western Michigan University with a bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy. She
is registered with the State of Michigan and the National Occupational Therapy
Registry. She had internships in home health care, out patient pediatrics,
community mental health and adult rehabilitation. She has worked in health care
for 10 years. Prior to joining our staff she worked in acute care and inpatient
rehabilitation. Summer has participated in several continuing education courses
including pediatric topics related to newborn assessment and Occupational
Therapy in the school setting. She has privately consulted with the victim advocate
association of Michigan educating advocates in Sensory Integration dysfunction.

Occupational Therapy. She is eligible for registration. She has worked for

of 2008. Her clinical internships were at Mary Free Bed in outpatient adult and
peds and Thurston Woods Village.
